3.  JFK/UMASS Shuttle News!

Boston - Great news!  MASCO and MASCO’s member institutions in the Longwood Medical and Academic Area (LMA) (please see below) have decided to take the JFK/UMASS shuttle out of its trial phase and make it part of their regular services for their employees and students traveling from areas south of Boston.  The JFK/UMASS Shuttle was a great success during the trial period (February 2002-December 2002) with over 400 riders taking the shuttle to work/school in the LMA.  The JFK/UMASS Shuttle will continue operating as a free shuttle and the shuttle schedule will remain the same.  The JFK/UMASS Shuttle runs Monday-Friday from 5:55 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. (JFK/UMASS Station to the LMA) and 3:20 p.m. to 8:05 p.m. (LMA to JFK/UMASS Station).  Commuters can pick up the JFK/UMASS Shuttle at JFK/UMASS Station at the MBTA bus loop.  There are several drop-off/pick-up locations in the LMA: Vanderbilt Hall, the Harvard Coop, Joslin Park, 75 Francis Street, Brigham Circle, Ruggles Street (at the MBTA stop at Wentworth Institute of Technology’s soccer field), and 610 Huntington Avenue (at the MBTA stop).  The employees and students of MASCO’s member institutions in the LMA must have their institutional identification cards with them when boarding the shuttle.

According to Jens Gregory,  MASCO’s Former Operations Manager, “The continuation of this shuttle service demonstrates the commitment of our members to improving access to the LMA.”  To obtain the JFK/UMASS shuttle schedule, please click this link.  Please contact CommuteWorks (a service provided by MASCO) at (617) 632-2796 or email us for additional questions regarding the JFK/UMASS Shuttle service.

5.  TO ALL FRAMINGHAM/WORCESTER COMMUTER RAIL PASSENGERS
*The MBTA has expanded service to and from Yawkey Station!  See the updated schedule below.

COMMUTER RAIL: NEW STOP AT YAWKEY STATION

MASCO is pleased to announce that as of April 26, 2004, the MBTA added a new stop at 7:54 a.m. at Yawkey Station on the Framingham/Worcester Line. This added stop is a pilot program being operated for one year by the MBTA. As a result of MASCO’s and our member institutions’ commitment to improving transportation access to the LMA and to relieving congestion, this stop was added to the MBTA services at our request. Since this stop is only being operated on a pilot program, please inform your employees and students, so that as many people as possible will know that they can take the 506 train, stopping at Yawkey Station at 7:54 a.m. We all hope to sustain this service in the future and encourage employees and students to use public transportation.

At Yawkey Station, commuters can complete their commutes to the LMA by taking MASCO’s Fenway Park and Ride Shuttle for free. For schedule information for the MBTA’s Framingham/Worcester Line, please visit the MBTA’s website at www.mbta.com <http://www.mbta.com> and for MASCO’s Fenway Park and Ride Shuttle schedule, please visit MASCO’s website at www.masco.org <http://www.masco.org> and click on the Parking and Transportation Services link. Employees and students can contact CommuteWorks at (617) 632-2796 if they have further questions regarding their commutes to the LMA.
