Together with members, MASCO area planning staff members review development plans with a focus on growing sustainabily and responsibly. We assist members with development planning, approvals and mitigation; provide expertise to master planning teams and community task forces; co-host public review through the LMA Forum; and publish planning studies such as the State of the LMA and About the LMA.

Coordinated planning has advanced green building initiatives, fostered commuter alternatives, mitigated traffic impacts and enhanced public spaces with landscaping and park improvements.

Development Projects Under Construction in 2012

	Children’s Hospital Boston’s new 115,000 sf patient care center will continue elimination of double-bedded rooms and expand operating rooms and other patient support space.
	MassArt’s newest student residence hall, inspired by Gustav Klimt's "The Tree of Life", will house 493 beds.
	23,000 sf of renovation work and a 9,400 sf addition to Wentworth's Beatty Hall will create the new Flanagan Campus Center.
	This 18,000 sf addition and 15,000 renovation of the Ira Allen Building will provide new teaching laboratories, classroom and office space to Wentworth's College of Arts and Sciences.
	National Development's 350,000 sf Longwood Center will provide primarily research laboratory space along with ground-floor retail and restaurant space.
