City of Boston Releases GOBOSTON 2030 Vision Plan

Mayor Walsh and his Transportation officials released their vision and action plan for the city's future.

So what does this mean for the LMA? Well, the GoBoston recommends 58 projects worthy of pursuing, several of which may add transit to the LMA including our very own Transit Hub. The plan emphasizes improving access and transportation in an equitable, economically supportive and climate resilient manner.

When MASCO began its own Transportation Vision in 2012, we discussed the importance of highlighting the LMA’s prominence in Boston’s civic discourse. Our LMA neighborhood is referred to often in the report as a significant job growth center:

A page in the report of the Plan, under long term strategies, details the Longwood Transit Hub, a project created by MASCO members as part of our own Vision plan. Additionally, in the City’s Plan, based on resident feedback from a two year process and comments from more than 600 people who participated in a Visioning Lab, rapid bus routes are suggested from Dudley, Uphams Corner and Mattapan, as well as Kendall and Harvard Square. The City’s Plan is aspirational, as well as oriented to short term actions, and the plan includes improvements from changing signal times to large scale transit.

Additional "Top Policies and Projects" include:

  • Walking and Bicycle Friendly Main Street Districts
  • Fairmount Line Service Improvements and Urban Rail
  • Columbia Road Greenway
  • Neighborhood Mobility microHUBs
  • Smart Signal Corridors and Districts
  • Mattapan to LMA Rapid Bus
  • North Station to South Boston Waterfront Rapid Bus and Ferry
