Cyclists

  • Be predictable: follow the rules, ride with traffic, signal your turns
  • Be visible: use lights at night, wear bright clothing, avoid vehicular blind spots
  • Be safe: ride 3’ from parked cars, don’t weave in and out of cars, ride in straight line instead
  • Be courteous: stay to the right unless it’s safer to use the whole lane, yield to pedestrians

Motorists

  • Be predictable: follow the rules, signal your turns
  • Be aware: look for cyclists and pedestrians when turning, check your mirrors before opening your door
  • Be safe: give 3’ of space when passing a cyclist, don’t drive or park in the bike lane, yield to pedestrians in crosswalks
  • Be courteous: bicyclists have the right to ride in the middle of the lane if it’s safer for them to do so

Pedestrians

  • Be predictable: follow the rules, wait for the walk signal
  • Be aware: look for cars and bicycles
