MBTA And MBCR Announce Additional Service On Lowell Commuter Rail Line

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority and its provider of Commuter Rail service, Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Company (MBCR), have announced the addition of four new commuter rail trains from Anderson Station in Woburn to North Station during morning rush hour, and a frequent service to Anderson for the afternoon commute, including an additional service from Boston-North Station to Lowell, which will be express to Anderson.

E-Line Updates

Starting September 2, and lasting for 3-4 months, the MBTA is performing track improvement work on the E-Line branch of the Green Line between Brigham Circle and Heath Street stations. During this time, customers desiring service between Brigham Circle and Heath Street are advised to board the Route 39 buses. Normal Green Line service to Heath Street will resume in January 2007. For more information from the MBTA regarding this project, click here:

Elsewhere on the E-Line, the MBTA has installed turnstiles with the CharlieCard system at the Prudential Station, allowing all train doors to open for passengers boarding and exiting. This should substantially improve the operation of the E-Line during busy times.
